Join Nuala on Wednesday 27 May 2026 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm for a Sunset Walk through Albritain Forest in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains.

This uplifting evening hike will take us through peaceful forest trails, open mountain bogs, and along winding rivers, all surrounded by some of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the north-west. From the higher ground, we’ll enjoy incredible vistas stretching towards Benbradagh, Binevenagh, Lough Foyle to the north, and the wild high Sperrins rolling away to the south.

Our walk begins with a steady ascent through the forest, where towering trees and birdsong create a calm and grounding atmosphere. As we climb higher, we’ll emerge from the woodland into the open mountain bogs, where the landscape softens into blankets of bog cotton dancing in the evening breeze beneath the golden light of sunset.

Along the way, we’ll pause for a few moments to reconnect with ourselves and the landscape around us through:

🌿 Mindful Breathing – Filling your lungs with fresh mountain air and allowing yourself to fully arrive in the moment.

🌿 Quiet Reflection – Taking in the stillness, the wide open skies, and the peaceful beauty of the Sperrins at sunset.

🌿 Gentle Stretching – Easing tension from the body while embracing the freedom of the open hills.

Our descent follows a beautiful meandering river, crossing and traversing it several times as we make our way back down through the valley. The soothing sound of flowing water, the soft evening light, and the quietness of the mountains create a truly restorative experience.

As we return to our cars, you’ll feel lighter, calmer, and re-energised — carrying with you not only the benefits of movement and fresh air, but also a renewed sense of balance, clarity, and appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

This is a medium level walk due to the incline, uneven ground, bog terrain, and river crossings. Beginners are very welcome, but a reasonable level of fitness and suitable footwear are recommended.
