Binevenagh Summer Solstice Hike (21 June 2026)
Binevenagh Summer Solstice Hike (21 June 2026)
Join Nuala on Sunday 21 June 2026 from 8am to 11.30am for a special Summer Solstice Wellbeing Hike on Binevenagh – the stunning mountain we call our base mountain, the mountain closest to our home and where our Outdoor Adventures first began in 2020.
Taking place on the longest day of the year, this Summer Solstice hike is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate light, nature and new beginnings. As the seasons shift, join us in welcoming summer with mindful movement, fresh mountain air and time to reconnect with yourself in one of Northern Ireland’s most spectacular landscapes.
The Summer Solstice will occur in the UK on Sunday 21 June 2026 at 9.24am BST, while we are on the mountain together – making this a truly special moment to pause, reflect and embrace the energy and abundance of the new season.
It’ll be a rejuvenating experience that blends breathtaking scenery, a deep sense of tranquillity and the uplifting atmosphere of the Summer Solstice.
Our hike will begin at the Leighery Road entrance to Binevenagh Forest at the base of this dramatic basalt mountain that forms part of the Antrim Plateau.
The ascent is steady, allowing you to pace yourself mindfully while taking in the beauty of the rolling landscapes around you. Each step is an invitation to be present, to breathe deeply and to let go of stress.
As you near the summit (385m), the landscape opens up to reveal one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in all of Northern Ireland. From here, you can see Lough Foyle, the Inishowen Peninsula and, on a clear day, even the distant Scottish Isles. The dramatic cliffs of Binevenagh create a breathtaking sense of openness and vastness — the perfect setting to pause, reflect and embrace the abundance and light that the Summer Solstice represents.
Along the way, we’ll take a few moments for:
🌿 Mindful Breathing – Let the fresh mountain air fill your lungs, refreshing and energising you.
🌿 Quiet Meditation – Close your eyes, listen to the wind and feel the deep stillness of nature.
🌿 Gentle Stretching – Release any tension and appreciate the strength of your body after the climb.
As you make your way back down, the journey will feel lighter and your mind clearer. By the time you reach the base, you’ll carry with you not only the physical benefits of movement but also a renewed sense of balance, clarity and appreciation for the simple beauty of the natural world.
Our Binevenagh Wellbeing Hike is more than just a walk – it’s a soul-refreshing experience and a beautiful way to honour the Summer Solstice, slow down, breathe deeply and embrace the present moment. 🌿✨
