Join Nuala on Wednesday 30th July 2025 from 6.30-9.30 pm for a beautiful Sunset Hike to the high point of Loughermore Forest in Co. Derry.

The forest is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, offering a tranquil atmosphere. The pathways, lined with a mixture of evergreen conifers and deciduous trees, create a soothing green canopy that filters dappled sunlight onto the forest floor.

As we meander gently up through the forest to the summit trig point, we’ll pass tall stands of pines, spruce, and larch, interspersed with native trees like birch, oak, and rowan. Moss carpets much of the ground, lending a soft vibrancy to the landscape. Small streams occasionally cross your path, their babbling waters adding to the meditative soundscape.

If the weather is clear, we will enjoy fabulous viewws out over Lough Foyle, the Donegal Hills and may even catch a glimpse of the surrounding Sperrin Mountains.

By the end of your walk, your body will feel refreshed and your mind clearer. The combination of a sunset, the gentle exercise, the natural beauty and moments of stillness will create a profound sense of wellbeing.

There will be 15 spaces and it is £15pp.

A basic level of fitness is required. Proper walking boots/shoes are mandatory.

A great route for beginners or anyone new to hiking or who is perhaps keen to get back out hiking.
