We’ll begin our journey on the legendary Miner’s Track on the northern side of Muckish, once carved out by generations of miners. The ascent is steep and invigorating, but every step is rewarded. As we climb, the landscape opens up to sweeping panoramas across Sheephaven Bay, Tory Island, and the vast, rugged beauty of Donegal stretching out below us.

Reaching the broad, plateau-like summit feels truly special. Here, we’ll take time to explore the summit cross, the iconic trig pillar, and the impressive stone cairn — all while soaking in breathtaking 360-degree views of wild, unspoiled countryside. On a clear day, you may even spot Errigal Mountain, standing tall and proud on the horizon.

Our descent takes us down the gentler southern side of Muckish toward the Muckish Grotto. The scenery shifts beautifully from bare stone to soft, heather-covered slopes, with mountain streams weaving their way down the hillside — a peaceful and grounding end to an epic journey.
