Sliabh Sneacht Hike (15 November 2025)
Sliabh Sneacht Hike (15 November 2025)
Join Nuala on Saturday 15 November 2025 on a splendid linear hike to the summit of Sliabh Sneacht - the highest point on the Inishowen Peninsula at 615m.
As we climb, the terrain will shift from hillside tracks to soft springy bog and then onto more rugged ground as we head for the rockier summit wherein lies a Holy Well - “Well of the Eyes” - the waters of which are reputed to hold a cure for eye ailments.
On the way up and on a clear day, we’ll be treated to sweeping views across Lough Swilly and then at the Summit, Lough Foyle, Malin Head and the Donegal hills - the views will be breathtaking.
The summit cairn stands at 615 meters and here we will stand together and take it all in - on what feels like the roof of Inishowen. The world will fall away in all directions — a 360° panorama of wild hills, distant sea, and scattered farms.
This is a medium-high level hike due to the duration, the uneven terrain and the steep ascent to the summit. But once at the summit, the 360 degree panorama on a clear day is something special. We’ll aim for a hiking time of approximately 5hrs.
The price is £25pp.
This is a car-sharing event from Derry.
