How are you doing today?

I've just sat down after a beautiful invigorating walk from Portrush East Strand to Whiterocks beach and back. As you can see from the photo above, it was an absolutely gorgeous morning albeit cold.

I was laughing with a friend that I looked like a ready-for-winter toddler in my multiple layers, my zipped up duvet-like "big" coat, my winter mittens and my pink woollen headband. It's all about warmth, comfort and cosiness these days!

You see, this week I have been responding to a winter virus that resulted in me being couped up at home for 4 days. To be honest, it was the last thing that I needed or wanted on returning from holidays. Whilst, at first, there was annoyance and frustration, this soon turned to acceptance and then surrender.

Rather than giving energy to wishing it could be different, acceptance and surrender has the power to allow us to respond to life's challenges from a different perspective. In that, there is a seeming release of resistance and expectation. And with that comes a resulting state of being in natural flow with all that is and then adding in a sprinkle of right action. For me, the right action meant speaking to a doctor, resting, drinking plenty of water and clearing my diary for a few days. And now today as I feel well again, all of this has turned to gratitude - for these bodies we inhabit, for the kindness of people, for the beauty all around us.

So I wonder how these words of acceptance and surrender resonate with you and your life? I hope that they offer you a few moments of reflection and perspective.
