How are you this morning? Almost halfway through May with the sun rising this morning at 5.18am and setting again at 9.29pm. I just love seeing the light increase as we move towards the Summer Solstice in June.
Enjoy the View
Whilst out and about this week delivering Wellbeing Programs and leading Guided Walks, a recurring theme has been “enjoy the view”. I smile as I reflect on this.
One particular example was when I was with a group of wonderful residents of a Housing Fold in Antrim. I have worked with this group on a number of occasions and the focus is always connection and self-care - mentally, emotionally and physically.
I was facilitating a Gratitude Exercise when one woman with limited mobility said “I am so grateful for the view from my room”. And then another woman repeated “Me too”. Within a few moments the conversation was all about appreciating our view of the world - whatever the weather - whatever the season.
So I wonder if you could take a few moments today and everyday to stop, look and enjoy the view. And whilst doing so, say a quiet thank you for this gift of sight and the beauty we see.
Guided Walks & Adventures
I lead a Zen Walk around Roe Valley Country Park on Thursday Evening and the “view” theme continued as we stood in the forest amongst the bluebells. And then over on O’Cahan’s Rock as we looked out over the trees and down to Sir Thomas Phillips’s Weir below. Beautiful!
The image above is from our Fairhead Hike on Saturday. What a day! Whilst the sea-mist had cleared around Ballycastle and Fairhead, it was still lingering over Rathlin Island and out towards Scotland. But the higher ground of the Paps of Jura and the Mull of Kintyre could be seen rising above the sea-mist. Stunning! It reminded me of my time in the Alps when we could drive up through and above low cloud in the valley to then see the mountains and blue skies above the clouds.
Binevenagh and Benbradagh
This week we return to our Sunset Hikes with a gorgeous evening hike up our beautiful base-mountain Binevenagh. This is always special. And then on Saturday we go exploring Benbradagh above Dungiven - an often over-looked mountain on our doorstep but I love it. The views on a clear day are fabulous. Come join me!
So here is wishing you a great week ahead and remember to stop and enjoy the view wherever you are or wherever the road takes you.
Be well
